Shop ‘til you Drop

New York, Paris, Milan … these are all dream shopping destinations, full of glittering shops and high-end labels, perfect for a weekend away with the girls. For me, this would probably involve a lot of window shopping and drooling over designer price tags I can only dream of ever being able to afford.

New York is my dream destination, with images of living the Carrie Bradshaw lifestyle. Of course this doesn’t come cheap, so it’s important to save as much as possible pre-holiday, meaning more to spend when you get there. A good way to save money on your travel plans is to look into different ways of getting to the airport.

Taxis can be expensive, and if you’re heading off on an early flight, you’re looking at a very early start. Trains and coaches are equally as stressful and costly, so it makes sense to me to go entirely DIY, and drive yourself to the airport. I recently booked Bristol Airport parking with BCP, and the service was second to none. Whether you fly from a major UK airport or a more regional one, services are available, all at fantastic prices. If you’re north of the border, you’re not forgotten, with Glasgow Airport car parking coming to your rescue.

Saved pennies means lots to spend on your retail therapy hit. Be careful not to blow it all at duty free, which I’ve been guilty of before! The glittering shops and countless products at cut prices just tempt me beyond belief, and I have to walk around with my eyes closed to curb the need to buy!

Paris is a great short-haul choice of shopping holiday, with around a 90 minutes’ flight to the heart of the action. Fantastic culture and sights combine with retail therapy to blow your mind, and the whole French ambiance is the cherry on the cake. Alternatively, Milan is a fashion powerhouse, with Italian food to boot – yum!

However, New York remains the icing on the very large cake for me, and with Bloomingdales the epitome of shopping heaven, it’s a destination I’m certainly aiming for in the very near future! Cocktails, girly laughs and a lot of shopping is the name of this game. Comfortable shoes are needed!New York

For something a little nearer to home, you’ll find Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam and even Marrakech all offer different shopping experiences, and with the colourful markets and souks in Marrakech, this is another destination on my dream list.
