Thanksgiving Greetings From the Copperhead

Hello UY Living gang. I apologize for the long absence from posting I have been busy sending carpet baggers back north and researching how to distill Uruguay corn into good bourbon :)
This past year has seen some incredible growth for UY Living and The Sociedad Southron. The Thursday evening get-togethers have been a huge success and a great opportunity for immigrants, expats, locals, and visitors to exchange ideas, make new friends, and sample local cuisine.

One of the wonderful things I have learned to do from living in several regions of the USA and 6 other countries around the world is how to incorporate various positive cultural experiences and traditions into my life and bring them with me wherever I go.

This Thursday we will celebrate Thanksgiving. This is one of the positive traditions that takes place not only in USA but in other places as well. For example, when I lived and worked in Grenada, West Indies, they too had a Thanksgiving day holiday where they give thanks each year to Ronald Reagan for saving them from a possible communist dictatorship in 1983.

Here in Uruguay we will not be celebrating so much the landing of the Pilgrims on Plymouth Rock, but celebrating and giving thanks that we have landed in Uruguay. Also we will give thanks to the people here for creating such a wonderful environment to live in and visit. We should all take the time on Thursday to reflect on the new friendships that have been forged and the special people that surround us. Also a big thanks to the Southron for all the time, heart, and energy he has spent.

I know family holidays can also be difficult for those with loved ones in other countries. This year my parents will not be spending Thanksgiving with their children or grandchildren. Although I am the only child who lives abroad, two of my sisters will be with their in-laws, and my little sister will be preparing to row across the Atlantic Ocean. (For those who want to know more about the race of the Copperhead`s sister feel free to visit: http://rowformeningitis.com/ ). I would like to say to my mom and dad though I won`t be with you this Thursday in body I will be there in spirit and giving thanks to be blessed with such a wonderful parents.

Hope to see you all Thursday and have a very happy Thanksgiving wherever you are living!!!

Thank you Chris—as your parents we too are blessed with special family and friends. The geography is distant but we will be with you on Thanksgiving as well. Best wishes to the Southron and the entire Uruguay Living community. We look forward to seeing you in January.

And remember, Thanksgiving calories do not count!
