I must admit that I was feeling incredibly frustrated when I wrote the “I have had it…” post here and in the forum. Predictably, Bruce responded with a threat to kill and eat my dogs–at which I laughed, incidentally. But frankly, the outpouring of positive comments turned my attitude around 180°. The words in support and appreciation that I received more than wiped out the gloom that had occluded my mind.
So it looks like UruguayLiving.com and SociedadSouthron.net will be around for a while longer–certainly for as long as they remain useful!

Hi David
Good to see you are sticking around. I was going to post in the other thread but by the time I saw it there were so many positive and uplifiting posts that were better than anything that I might say that it seemed hardly worth the point.
There are lots of nutcases around and I would tend to say just ignore but sometimes some things can get a person so down that it is hard to shrug off. Different things affect different people differently although this particular nutcase incident is enough to stress anybody.
But ultimately to progess you have to shrug it off. And it looks like that’s what you have done. Good to see it.

David,
I’m sorry for LOL but I couldn’t help, as I’m one devoted reader who has actually traveled to your your new country/city and met you in the flesh, and was more than impressed by who you are, where you’ve been and what you’ve done.
By your own description you’re a curmudgeon, so I thought you’d have thicker skin but I guess a piss-ant can get the best of even the most hard-core. Perhaps it’s sign of your growing popularity?
Whatever the case may be, keep-on truckin my friend!
Regards,
Aaron

David–he threatened to kill and eat your dogs? You do know you’ve been corresponding with a psychopath, don’t you? Coming from a former ghetto teacher, my first response would not have reflected that experience–not my polite southern lady upbringing. Immediately, he would have been on permanent “delete.”
I do hope you are in your house by now; it will all be worth it ultimately. We will be in Montevideo the last two weeks in January and hope to meet you and the others.
Brenda
