I submit to you for consideration the following three messages I have heretofore received and thus far tried to ignore. The latest, received today was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I am perfectly willing to close down this board today along with UruguayLiving.info and SociedadSouthron.net. I have not made a penny profit from them and they cost me a lot of time and money.
You can let me know what you think by commenting here, you may also want to respond to this “gentleman” personally.

What I can’t understand is all that rage you display. I’ve seen it in other expat blogs and still don’t understand the attitudes. Kind of supports the notion that we Americans are a very violent people (never mind about your statements regarding firearms…if you are an anti-gun lobbyist you sure sound like the least likely spokesperson for that cause).
If you are being ignored and your comments are not posted, then why not simply go away? But even then, if you feel compelled to get your point across, the extreme anger you display when expressing yourself only reflects badly on you.

It seems Bruce has a mental problem or full of rage.Hope people like him stay where they are. Being proud of one’s heritage and celebrating a holiday is nothing new for Americans. I am a Yankee (born and raised in the Northeast) and personally know Chinese- americans that celebrate Chinese New Year, Italian- americans that celebrate Columbus Day and Jewish-americans that celebrate Yom Kippur to name but just a few holidays. Heaven forbid you should celebrate Thanksgiving outside of the US!
I contend that all extremes are irrational regardless of where you stand on any issue. Abortion, religion, gun control included. It’s another form of ignorance.

Who IS this “angry guy?” While I don’t necessarily want to “celebrate” anything re the USA, I sure don’t see any harm in using those occasions for a get-together in whatever country we expats are in and eating some good turkey or sharing other delicious foods.
Keep up the good work with the bog and web site, David. You are VERY helpful. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate your efforts….well, they don’t have to read your web site and blog.

I, like you, have a number of articles posted on various sites around the world. And, I have received my share of disagreeable letters, but I must admit, mine were mostly well composed. The “author” so bent on irritating you was little more than a mild amusement to me. He is obviously poorly educated, ethnocentric to a fault, and lacks the ability to launch an intelligent (much less coherent) argument in support of whatever it is he’s defending. In a world full of slings and arrows, he doesn’t even qualify as a decent slingshot.
He’s a gnat on an elephant…ignore it.
Oh, by the way, I’m an avid gun collector, excellent competition shooter, and yes, I have been involved in fire fights. Although (as is usually the case) I have no idea if I actually shot anyone.

Don’t let these three e-mails from Bruce get you down. My wife and I have been looking foreword to your blog entries for quite some time now. I recently bought your book. It’s wonderful!! It’s full of so much information and we love your humor and witt. You are a truely talented writer. Look at how many people responded to these e-mails, and I agree with all of them. Bruce is obviously a troubled person while you are respected and admired by many.

One of the things that I become more certain about as I get older is that the world is full of crazy people. Our new friend Bruce is just one more example of that.
One of my personal rules is that if interacting with an individual brings me more pain than pleasure, then I’m under no obligation to continue the interaction. It took me over 40 years to figure that out, but I’ve since applied that rule to bosses, old (now former) friends, and strangers. I say apply it to Bruce and revoke his subscription to the blog.
I love reading your blog and love your book. Please don’t let nutjobs like Bruce get you down.

Riddle me this Southron, is it an oversight or is it really that bureacratic there? I mean being held up on dsl internet because of a different ppt no. is understandable but why couldn’t he have just given his old number when he ordered the move. If your answer is that he had to show up in person to order the move of the internet lines, and show ppt again, then why can’t someone checking his ppt not obviously identify him at that point and simply add in the new number etc. ?
Too if this is done over the phone probably just wasn’t thinking that he could just have told him the same info that was initially on the application.
