The Southron has provided many services and outlets for information sharing which might be confusing for new users. So here is a quick explanation of these services and how you may utilize them most effeciently without overloading or abusing the services.
Blog: UruguayLiving.com
The blog has primarily 2 authors, the Southron and Copperhead. If you have something you would like posted as an entry, you may email the Southron and he will post it at his discretion as a guest author post. Otherwise the blog is mostly information to consume. Pearls of wisdom passed down from the Southron and others about their first hand experiences in Uruguay. Read the entries and feel free to post a comment that pertains to that specific post. You must be a registered user to comment. All comments on the blog will be moderated for appropriate content. Your comments will not appear on the blog until they are approved. You may register by clicking here or from the Register link on the side bar. You may subscribe to this blog to be notified of new posts. You may also add this blog’s RSS feed to many popular news readers by clicking the links at the bottom of the page. There is a feed for the posts as well as for the comments.
REGISTERING FOR THE BLOG AND THE FORUM ARE TWO ENTIRELY SEPARATE PROCESSES! Siging up for one does not have any effect on the other. To participate in both you must join both.
Forum: SociedadSouthron.net
The forums are a place where you can participate with fellow forum members about a variety of topics, almost all of which pertain to Uruguay. This is where you can ask almost anything pertaining to those topics and the community will be able to read and respond. To read and participate in the forums you will have to complete the registration process, which involved verifying your account. You must be a member to participate. This is another free service. There are a few important rules; 1. No profanity, 2. No personal attacks and 3. No commercial links. You may read the current rules by following this link: http://www.sociedadsouthron.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13. It is important to remember to post on topic, which means if you are posting a question, choose the correct category/topic for your question. If a topic does not exist, just note it in your post and an administrator will move/file your post in the correct place, even creating a new topic if need be. The forums are largely self service and community driven. Your participation in the forums is immediate. Your post replies and questions will be online and available immediately after you submit them without moderation or review. You are able to edit your posts at any time. You may subscribe to topics and bookmark topics/posts as well. You also have the ability to be notified upon a response being posted to any of your posts/questions. You also have the ability to Private Message a user. This should be used to share information that is not fit to be publically published. Private messaging should be used sparingly as the idea of the forum is to share as much knowledge as possible. A private message is only sent to one person and not posted to the topic as a reply for the communities benefit. It is important to think about whether the information your are sharing is on topic and of value to the community, if not, send a private message. Otherwise click Post Reply and share it with the community, they will be thankful. Don’t worry about making mistakes, the administrators will fix them.
Directory: UruguayLiving.net
You found it, the master list of English speaking services. This is the directory maintained by the Southron of vetted services that will ease your transition into Uruguay. These lists are a work in progress and input and experiences are encouraged to help grow the lists. If you have used any of the services, please provide feed back, both positive and negative. If you know of a service that should be on these lists and is not, please let us know via email or in the forums.
And lastly the Southron: let’s not forget this most important service. When all else fails, there is always direct email to the Southron.
Running all these services takes time and effort. Hopefully this short guide will help you identify how to use these resources most efficiently without overloading the service, whether commenting on blog posts, asking and participating in the community over at the forums, or utilizing the english speaking services on the directory.
Good luck, and keep an eye out for the soon to be released book.

Wow! I like your new look. Congratulations.
>> Thank you kindly.
(The registration process was a bit onerous, though. I almost forgot which article I wanted to comment on.
>>The blog registration is a one time event, next time you return to the blog, if you are logged in, you will be able to comment immediately.
But I understand that this is the registration for your forum as well..)
>> This is not correct. If you wish to participate on the forums, you will need to register on the forums.
This is a great service that you provide for expats. Uruguay sounds lovely.
>>We aim to please–and Uruguay sure is pleasing…

Southron,
I just read your latest post to Escape from America and I enjoyed it but I must disagree with one thing that you said which concerns the excitement level of Uruguay being low. In fact I could not disagree more. Punta del Este is one of the most exciting places in the world, paticurally in the Summer time. In fact it’s so exicting in the Summer that I leave and go to Playa Verde. It really has most anything that someone would want in a summer resort destination short of scuba diving which you will not find anywhere in the country. Winter time is slow but even that is changing as more and more foreigners are choosing to live here year round. I love Uruguay and in particular Punta.
