The Southron really needs your help! Every day I get asked to recommend a hotel–but I have only stayed at one and the Copperhead at two.
Please send your comments good or bad, including any details, how much you paid, internet availability, etc to southron@uruguayliving.com so it can be organized and published.

Hello Southern!
It was delightful to meet you last Sunday and I look forward to our next lunch at the Deli.
As far as hotels in Montevideo, I would like to highly recommend El Ermitage located on Juan Benito Blanco. We stayed there for a week while looking for an apartment and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They were able to clue us in on the best barrios, which day the paper listed the apartments for rent, etc. They were patient with our incoming phone calls and our frequent internet use of the two computers they have for the guests disposal.
Most rooms have a view of La Rambla. The rooms are small, but adequate. Our room had a TV, Mini-fridge, and a full bath (plenty of hot water). A lovely breakfast is served every morning, including pastries, yogurts, fresh fruit, cereal, hot scrambled eggs, and of course coffee and tea.
We paid $50/day for our ocean view. The rooms not facing the ocean are $40/night. There is internet on the first and second floors. They are planning to expand this to the subsequent floors as well.
It is generally a warm atmosphere most of the day, as locals and guests patronize the dining room/lobby for meetings, drinks, or to play a game of cards.
Hope this information is of use to you,
GG
